(Got Milk? Lots of it. And the kid only wants it fresh!)
The kid and I are at the in-laws place. The inevitable is nearing. I am going back to work and she is not taking to the bottle. Not at all… We are here today to let her adjust to being taken care by her paternal grandparents. The trouble with placing the kid with the grand-ies is there are two sets of parents here. Oh… Oh… I have just been told to open the windows to allow fresh air into the room while she sleeps. I guess while they could sense the breeze, they failed to see the stream of sunlight entering as well? They will ask me why the kid is not sleeping well instead. And why am I asking if the kid could sleep well? She has just fallen asleep without her 2nd feed. After 15 minutes of giving her the bottle they gave up. What a fierce baby she is, they said. Have you not been listening? The next strategy on their list that was made up 30 years is to see if she would take the bottle after some time of mild starvation. The kid has been there and done that. I guess sometimes you have to see it to believe it. I have a choice. I chose to place the kid under their charge and I chose not to intervene to their suggestions as they will be her main care-givers.
She is definitely out of her schedule and it makes me feel uneasy. The very one we tried so hard to get her in and we are so used to it. But if it means a breakthrough, I will take the chance. We will have to be prepared for a listless and fussy baby. I hope tomorrow is a better day.Labels: feeding, milk, motherhood |
