| Feeding Frenzy |
The kid is 9 weeks old today and is on total breast-milk. I will be going back to work in two weeks time and we have been “training” her to take the bottle. We have tried for three weeks without avail. She refuses the bottle and would take 20 minutes to drink 10-20 ml. These are the following ways we tried:
Feeding Time We tried to give her the bottle when she is really hungry, not hungry etc. She would rather cry herself to sleep then take the bottle. Her mood changed when we persisted with the bottle, and she will become listless and sleepy. For a few days, she became disagreeable at the beast, refusing to feed more than 10 minutes. She would use her hands to push away or to cry loudly. Now, we are giving her the bottle at the start of feeding time (10.30 AM and 2.00 PM). It is up to her to drink as much as she wants (nothing more than 25 ml each time). When she becomes upset, I’ll breastfeed her.
Feeding Posture Cradling her is impossible as she will cry even more hysterically. So far, she is least disagreeable in the rocker. Someone else will give her the bottle
Teats Pigeon, AVENT, NUK and Medela. We tried silicon and rubber teats, and of different hole sizes as well.
Milk Other than one time of Naan formula, we give her breast milk (at first those frozen ones that I expressed earlier, now are fresh one expressed at most 2 hours before her feeding time).
My Presence I know she should not hear or see me. Hence, I tried going out, and going to another room etc.
It has been a stressful three weeks and as the days passed, I get more worried as I will be returning to work. I enjoy BFing the kid and my milk supply is pretty well-established. But working is a must… Well, she must feed too...Labels: feeding, milk |
